The monster A three-nation collaborative story Part 1 by Desmos in South Africa Part 2 by Kyle in Canada Part 3 by in Andres, Mateo and Lucas in Argentina
Part 1: What is that behind me?
Something brushed against me and my surprise turned to horror as I saw a very big monster right beside me. I was so frightened that I jumped as high as a tree. I clambered up the tree.
Part 2: Mum doesn’t believe me
The monster called out, “Little boy! Little boy! Come down! I won’t hurt you". “No I will never come down!” said Matt. "Mom, mom, come outside! I need you!" shouted Matt. The monster ran away when it heard the door open. Matthew told his mom that the monster was trying to get him but it had run away. “Matt, come inside!" said his mom.
The next day arrived. "Hey mom" said Matt when he got back from school. “Hi Matt, did you have a good day?" asked mom. “Ya mom it was awesome in class. We had a test and I did awesome. I think I got a A+," said Matt happily. “Wow, well done! A nice dinner will be ready in one hour" said mom.
When dinner was ready I came rushing down the stairs to find my dinner on the table. I was about to finish the last roll that mom had prepared when I heard a tapping sound coming from the window. I glanced out and found the monster that had scared me throwing pebbles at the window. I suddenly felt nervous!
" Mom there is a big, scary monster throwing pebbles at the window ." She looked out the window and the monster was gone. "Matt," she said with a kind voice. " You are letting your imagination run wild." I couldn’t sleep, my mind was only thinking about the monster and I wondered when it would come back.
The next morning in school, without meaning to I ran into Greg the school bully. " What do you want, squirt?" he said with a gruff voice. " Nothing," I answered back. " You am going to wish you hadn´t come this way!" he said walking up to me. Suddenly a light shone and the monster appeared and pushed Greg which made him fall. Then the light shone again and the monster disappeared.
"Did you see that " said a boy. " The monster saved him" said another. The rest of the day I couldn't think. What if the monster didn't want to hurt me? What if he only wanted to be my friend? I didn't know but what I did know is that the monster seemed to be scared by adults.
Part 3: can I make friends with the monster?
Then I went back home thinking on the monster. I said to my self “This time I won’t call my mother. I will see if he wants to be my friend. I waited for him on the playground but he didn’t come. After school I went home I. As I started to do the homework I heard a “bang”. It was the monster and he was throwing pebbles at my window. Maybe he wanted to be my friend. I didn’t know. I went down and I went to the monster. I told him “Hi”. He didn’t answer. I thought he couldn’t . I repeated myelf. “Hi!” He made a sign with his hand like saying hi. Then he pushed me into the mud and entered a little closet outside my house. I was scared and rushed into the house, puzzled. The monster always disappeared.
Some days after, when I arrived home I saw that the door was open. I went inside. It was all dark and I put on the lights. My mom appeared dead on the floor. I got near her, and then the monster appeared and yelled “Happy birthday Matt!” My mom stood up and then new monsters appeared. There were my friends. They had planned a surprise party for me. The monster was really my father dressed up as a monster! He had been the monster all the time playing pranks on me! THE END
