The Unusual Day A three-nation collaborative story Part 1 by Jamhar in South Africa Part 2 by Anthony in Canada Part 3 by Tomas, Julian and Federico Jorge in Argentina
Part 1: John feels ill
I knew it was going to be an unusual day when my mom came into my bedroom and said, "Son, are you ok?“ "I don't know. I am feeling sick, mum. I don't want to go to school today. Please can I have a glass of milk.
Part 2: A day in bed
"Of course you can, son!" she stated as she walked out the door to get the milk. "Here you go." "Thanks," he said after a big gulp of milk. "So what's wrong?" she asked worriedly. "I am feeling sick inside. My stomach aches every time I move," he explained quietly. "Well I guess you can't go to school in lots of pain. Go to sleep and when you wake up ill get you some hot soup. You can stay home until you're feeling better," she told him. "You're the best mom," he whispered before quickly falling asleep.
"Wake up son, I made you some soup. Come downstairs to eat," mum yelled from downstairs. There was no reply. The mother scampered upstairs to see where her son was. When she entered his bedroom she discovered that he was not there. Where could he have gone she wondered to herself. She noticed that the bedroom window was slightly ajar.
Part 3: Where is John?
“Where are you, son?” she shouted. Nobody replied. There was a silence as in the desert. She began to panic. She also felt as though her life was about to end with stress, so she went out side the house and started looking everywhere for John. She didn’t find any clues as to where he should be.
She called the police and immediately they came. The detectives looked all around the house and then the police put signs of rewards for finding him.
They started looking all around the city but there were no signs of him. She called her ex-husband in case John was there.
He didn’t answer so she went to his house as quickly as she could. But she couldn´t enter. The door was locked. Nobody was there. She went quickly back to her house. Crying she went to sleep hoping that she would find him. The next morning she went to his bed and cried there for a long time. She went again to her ex-husbands house but nobody was there.
Then she remembered that he often went to his grandmother’s house when he was sad. Why hadn’t she thought of that! She rushed over and found him safe and sound. They returned to the house very happy to be together again. THE END
