Part 1: The strange lady

Slide 3

She was a interesting old lady, but I knew she had come to tell me something important. "You are in danger. You have to get out of here. It is really dangerous here"  "But I live here," I said.  "You have to convince your mother to leave immediately." "But how and why?" I asked  "Just do it, quick!!" said the old lady.

Slide 4

It was September 15th, 1939. Everything was perfect. It was beautiful outside. I heard younger children playing and laughing. Everything was calm, except for this old lady standing right in front of me. What a disturbance! She seemed pretty serious about what she was talking about. "So how do you think I'm going to persuade my mother to leave our home to run from this unknown threat?“ "You probably don't understand this, but tell your mother that the Nazis are coming.“ "Whatever" I said

Part 2: What is going on?

Slide 6

I went back inside to our small boring house, walked up the stairs and told my mom what the old lady had said. Just then CRASH! BOOM! CRASH! SCREECH! I was oblivious to what was going on. They sounded like bombs, and just like that my mother picked me up, ran with me all the way to our dark, scary basement.

Slide 7

"Stay down!" she said, trying to raise her voice over the loud sounds of explosions, BOOM! SCREECH! CRASH! At this point, I knew what was going on, we were being invaded by another country. "Are you okay Isaac? Don't be scared." I wasn't scared, My mom knew I wanted to be a fearless warrior when I grew up. I was as brave as Alexander the Great!  The bombing kept going for hours, it seemed like it never would stop. After hours of this, it finally stopped. I waited a few moments than I bolted upstairs and flung the door open, what lies before me is the charred remains of my town, with a bomb shell in the middle of the street. "I hope that old lady is okay." I said "Me too, Isaac." Mother said. It all seemed over as people slowly and curiously came out of where they were hiding. Some of them had torn clothes and some of them really dirty. It was freaky having my home town changed so much.

Slide 8

I heard lots of people talking about the Germans invading. They were the ones who caused this problem. They bombed us. But why would they? My friend is German, and he was never so violent. Why would anybody do this? "Hey mom, what's going on?" I asked quietly.

Part 3: We search for the strange lady

Slide 10

" I don't know Isaac, we have to find that old lady to know," she answered. When she finished saying this, we both looked at each Other. We were determined to find that old lady. We wanted to know what had happened with this attack. My mother packed all her things including her bed, but I said no to her. We were only going on a "trip" to  find that strange lady. When we were both  ready to go, and had packed the necessary things, we left. I only remembered that the old lady’s eyes were strange. They looked like the eyes of someone who loved to read. I suddenly thought about the library, I told my mother , “Maybe she is in the library!" I said. We ran to the library, and just as I had thought,  there she was. We started asking lots of questions.

Slide 11

Why are the Germans  attacking us if we did not do anything to them? Why? I have a German friend and he is not bad.   Can you explain? "I tried to help you to escape from the war and you treat me like This. Do you want to know what I am going to do about it ? I am going to go," and she disappeared. A little paper dropped from her coat. We picked it up it and it said  something in  another language that we didn’t understand. Well, many exciting things happened after this, but we will leave that for another day! THE END
