Home Alone A three-nation collaborative story Part 1 by Nalrag in South Africa Part 2 by Emily Jo in Canada Part 3 by Juan and Santiago in Argentina
Part 1: Where are mum and dad?
Lilly was peering through the window as the cars went by. She was wondering when her parents would be back. She waited and waited and waited but they never came home. She was starting to think that maybe they won't be home until late that night. So she went to bed thinking that everything would be okay.
Part 2: A night-time visitor
Both her and her brother were sound asleep when they were suddenly awoken by the doorbell. "Ding Dong! Ding Dong! Lilly woke up to the sound and said to herself, "Who would be coming to the house at 4:00 in the morning? Oh, I know, it is probably mom and dad trying to get in since they left there keys at home. I should probably let them in." Once she got to the door, she rubbed her eyes then opened the door. "Hello, and may I ask -" She stopped mid-sentence and looked down at the person's shoes, all the way up to his face. She realized that it wasn't her parents. It was a police officer.
"Hello there sweety, are you home by yourself?" he asked curiously. "Oh no, my parents would never let me stay home by myself. They say I am too young, I am only 8 years old. But soon I will-" He cut me off, then said, " ...then whom might be home with you?" he looked a little confused, considering an 8 year old was answering the door at 4:00 in the morning. "My brother is home, but I know what you are thinking and to answer your question, my brother Paul is a very, very heavy sleeper. He didn't hear the doorbell ring," she said enthusiastically.
" Well, do you mind waking him up and bringing him down to talk to me?" the officer asked. Lilly gave him a blank stare then said as if she was suspicious about something, "um, sure...anything to make you happy...I think." She walked up the stairs and into Paul's room. She woke him up and then told him what was happening and took him down to the front door. "You called for me?" Paul asked. The police officer looked at Paul and Lilly.
"I know this may be a shock for you kids, but your parents got involved in a car crash and they are at the hospital," the police officer said. "We don't know how long they will be there, but it may be a while until they get out and come home," he went on. " We need you to go see them and we will find out who you will go to while they are in the hospital. I am so, so, so sorry." He looked down again but this time he took a while to look up.
"I just have one question, will they be okay?" Paul asked. Lilly was in too much shock to speak. Then it happened... Lilly started to cry. She didn't just cry, she balled. She got so worked up and Paul didn't know what to do. He got down on his knee and looked Lilly in the eye and said, "Don't worry Lilly, they will be all right, you'll see. We can go and visit them in the morning. You'll be fine." And then she stopped crying and gave Paul a big hug.
Part 3: The thief
The police stayed with them all the night. He never went to sleep. At 5:00 am while Paul and Lilly were asleep the police officer heard somebody knocking on the door, he went to the door and saw a man through the peephole. He was wearing a mask on his face. Inmmediately he took his gun, opened the door and started shooting at the thief who had a bullet proof vest over all his body except for the hands. The police officer had a very good accurate shooting but the thief had shot him in the stomach. Lilly heard the shooting and woke up Paul. They went to the front door and spied to see what was happening. They saw the police officer hurt and the thief pointing with a gun on his head.
Paul and Lilly went to Paul’s bedroom and Paul said to Lilly to stay there because he was going to save the police. Paul threw himself out of the window and went running to the front door to save the police officer. While he was going to the front door he saw a baseball bat, he got it. When he arrived to the front door he hit the thief on the head with the baseball bat. The thief was knocked down, so Lilly came down and the police officer told Paul and Lilly what had happened because the thief had told him. The thief was in a car and saw Paul’s parents in another car, so he decided to crash into them. He made the two cars crash but before the cars crashed he jumped out of the car. Lilly and Paul didn’t understand why the thief had crashed into their parents. So the police officer told them that he had done it for fun.
After all this incident it was already 7.00 am so they went to take the thief to the police and then they went to the doctor to see their parents. The doctor had a bad piece of news. Their mother had died. Lilly started to cry and hugged Paul. Their father was hurt but luckily he didn’t die. They all went to their house and then to the funeral. They were very sad and they didn’t live happily ever after. THE END
