The two essential strands of BUILD: 1. Maintaining the premises 2. Changing and enhancing the premises

Slide 3

Maintaining the premises This summer two people in particular have been very busy – Robin and Alan.

Slide 4

Maintaining the premises Asbestos from the Sanctuary loft void has been removed. The fixed electrical inspection of the whole site took place. All portable electrical appliances on the site were tested. (PAT testing) As a consequence of the Fire assessment report the cellar and parts of the premises have been cleared.

Slide 5

We have upgraded and relocated fire extinguishers and signs throughout the building The damp area in the corridor by the pre-school has been sorted out and re-decorated. We are investigating the costs for a new fire-proof roller shutter in the Main Hall and fire doors to the primary escape route. Maintaining the premises

Slide 6

Signage around site New notice board has been erected in the Church Garden. Comprehensive way finding signage will be installed around the site by 31 October.

Slide 7

Storage around site Pre-school now benefits from the use of all the cupboards in their room. Their physical play equipment is now stored in the Main Hall. All the crockery and cutlery is now stored in the Stables boiler room.

Slide 8

Storage We are aiming to have all the children’s and youth work storage in the link between the Main Hall & Stables We are considering using the large walk-in as a cleaner’s store and flower arranger’s area & store.

Slide 9

Changing the premises Four stages in any project: Preparation, design, construction and use. Lewis Patten Architects have been appointed to Planning stage. The Development Team has met with the architect twice.

Slide 10

Changing the premises With him, we are:- refining the Design Brief, meeting with the key stakeholders to better understand their requirements and storage needs.

Slide 11

Changing the premises re-considering the Marguerite Drive elevation in view of the feedback received.

Slide 12

Changing the premises considering the appointment of further consultants to the design team. Fairly shortly we will need the services of a Quantity Surveyor for cost advice and control.

Slide 13

Changing the premises The total cost for both maintaining and changing the premises is £900,000. Timescales: Maintenance is on-going and the aim is to start changing the premises in January 2011.
