EPS has excellent and exclusive characteristics.
Widely used by industry for superb packaging properties White foam packaging for many electrical and electronic appliances Thermal insulation makes it important for packaging food: Fish boxes, Fruit & vegetables Expanded polystyrene (EPS) fishboxes are widely used throughout the seafood industry for transporting all types of chilled products due to their thermal, shockproof and waterproof properties. However, for many seafood processors or wholesale markets, the disposal of used polystyrene fishboxes can be an expensive and difficult problem. But there are alternatives to simply throwing whole EPS boxes in the bin. Plastic products have gained a strong foothold in the construction market due to its durability, cost effectiveness, lightweight, ease of installation and sustainability.
The used EPS is reused or recycled in various ways for plastic products or by heat recovery.
EPS is 100 percent recyclable, and can be recycled in various ways. Recycled EPS is ground and reincorporated into new EPS products or thermally processed to make a resin that can be used to remanufacture new products.
Used EPS can be successfully and profitably recycled.
Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) Recycling Harden Industries Ltd. 2009
What is EPS? Expanded polystyrene is made from polystyrene beads that contain hydrocarbon foaming agent. The beads are heated by steam and expand 50 times before charged in a mold to become a formed piece, which contains 95 -98 % air and 2-5% polystyrene.

Problems of EPS Recycling The low weight to volume ratio makes EPS very costly to transport Special Jumbo-trucks with high loading volumes of 110m3 can only carry weight of 600 to 700 kg EPS. The present utilization of EPS offers a very low degree of value recovery. The major part of the EPS-waste is incinerated. Most of the collected EPS waste is grinded and used in cement flooring and insulation tiles. Only small volumes of EPS are processed to PS-granulates. The EPS for the construction industry contains flame retardants. This waste has to be collected separately and treated in special processed, because the brominated additives can react to toxic degradation products.
Harden’s Solution — Compact and sell it instead of pay for it for landfill EPS Compactor EPS Shredder Reduce size by 30-50 times Saving transportation cost Sell compact logs for money Keeping integrity of the material Low noise and low dust Shred foam blocks for cushion, shred logs for extrusion
