Aquilegia formosa, known commonly as crimson - or red- columbine tends to grow in dense clusters throughout the meadows and forests of Sagehen. We intended to study the environmental factors contributing to its occupied niche, finding notable patterns in canopy cover, soil moisture, and species richness on Crimson Columbine clusters.

This flower is widespread across both the state and continent, stretching from Baja up to Alaska. Our conclusions have important conservation and diversity implications for local populations as well as its ranging geographical habitats, identifying what factors this plant needs to succeed and thrive.
